I started knitting when I was about 14 – I begged my mom to teach me how to knit. I somehow got started, but but never finished my first project. I picked up knitting needles again in 2004, made my first scarf and just kept going!
I am somewhat cautious when it comes to knitting – I have to feel confident and proficient at whatever I am working on/learning at the moment before I can move on to the next thing. Now whenever I start a new knitting project, I try to make sure I will be trying and learning a new technique.
Now I consider myself an “advanced beginner.” I bring my WIPs almost everywhere I go and knit in public all the time. It’s a wonderful conversation starter. Knitting has been so amazing and rewarding, it is the best thing I learned!
