Wool and Honey! Finally got to knit this popular pattern after getting a few sweaters under my belt. I love the honey\/bee theme and had to pick a golden hued yarn. Decided to go with Schachenmayr Regia Premium Merino Yak in Gold Meliert from WEBS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the sweater’s silhouette is cropped, boxy and wide (it has a 9″ positive ease!), I opted for size XS. I followed the pattern and was enjoying the elongated stitches that make up the honeycomb pattern until I got to about row 60 and realized the neck opening was WAY too small. Like, chokingly small. So I frogged and started over. CO 96 instead of 90 and upped one needle size. After 1\u201d of ribbing, I skipped the first round of increases and went straight to row 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the yoke was done and it was time to divide the body and sleeves, the garment was already halfway down my upper arm. Okay, I guess it will be a little batwing-like… and rather than CO 11 sts for each underarm, I did 8, and decreased 2 sts on each side with every 4 row or so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finished and had to take some awkward new sweater selfies. \ud83d\ude06 Every time I start a project, my goal is to try something new. This was my first time making an extended\/rounded yoke, using elongated stitches (so many wraps!), short row in the back of the neck (TBH, I think I prefer German Short Rows), and what felt like endless garter stitches for the body (instead of stockinette). This is definitely not a fit\/silhouette I’m used to, but I will wear my Wool & Honey proudly anyway! If I ever knit this again, I think I will try to separate the body and sleeves much earlier for a more classic fit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
